The globalized and confident looking humanity has experienced unprecedented changes in recent history. The corona pandemic has impacted the life, health and livelihood of the people. Besides, the unimaginable human suffering, all of us have undergone, there had been tremendous changes in imparting knowledge and learning of the students through educational institutions.  The teachers and the students have to invent new ways in order to be abreast with their learning and improvement of their skills. The privileged students were fortunate to benefit from the online classes using technology and devices. As it goes, I tend to believe that this new system of education is going to stay in the future.

St. Francis College of Nursing staff too joined the present trend of online education and they made sure that every effort is made to meet the educational needs of the students of the college updating them on their curriculum. However, the physical presence of the students was a necessity to train them on hands-on experience with the patients in the hospital. The practical lessons were conducted for the sake of the students skill training in handling the patients at their care. For this reason the students were given the vaccination in the hospital prior to their practical experiences. I am indeed happy to note that our principal with other teaching staff did an excellent job by keeping our students update with the defined syllabus and practical training.

It is my ardent desire that our nursing students with their unique experiences of both theoretical and practical learning become lamps burning brightly and place themselves at the service of the sick with utmost care and love. I wish that the students are made aware of the challenges and opportunities and are enabled to consider their choice of profession as a nobler service to humanity. Hence they inculcate in themselves the spirit of being at the service of humanity in need of healing and caring touch.
